UPDATE: Added 3 photos of fungus on June 15, 2016. Cap grew to 9 inches dia. from about 4 in nine days.
Molecular data suggests that Laetiporus perscicinus is unrelated to Chickens and other Laetiporus: http://www.mycologia.org/content/100/3/417.full
These fungi were at the base of two large white oaks (Q. alba) in my back yard. Two fruited in June 2014 and grew quite large. Another two have come up this month (June 2016) at the base of the white oak next to the first one. (After being attacked, the first tree developed an area above where the fungus grew. It is emitting sap which is attracting flies and smells like it is fermenting.)
