The cap of this Russula is brownish with vinaceous colour with a pectinate margin and scaly patches. Larger fruit bodies are depressed in the centre. The gills are yellowish-cream in colour and browning at the margins with age. The stipe is cream with purple at the very base. Larger fruit bodies are about 7 cm in diameter and 5 cm in height. Regenerating bush with teatree as the dominant canopy species.
