On the ground under Ponderosa pines and Douglas firs. Somewhat paler color than other L. deliciosi complex specimens in the same area. Flesh pale orange, staining deep turquoise to indigo blue fairly promptly when bruised or incised. No definite latex exudation with incision, and no good spore print collected in 12 hrs, perhaps due to the age of the specimen. Taste nutty and pleasant. Texture firm, with typical graininess of Lactarius.
