After looking at the species range for E. harknessii, I don't believe it occurs here in Florida. The Pine-Pine Gall Rust is distinguishable by its spherical shape and brown color. Also, the area in which the growths occur on trees a feature of this species. This tree was found in a natural plain consisting of a hardwood swamp forest. It was found in the morning on a sunny day, with the temperature around 77 degrees, with wind around 5-10 mph. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services was used to identify this species.
