as Phyllosticta smilacina E. & M. on label; annotation on sheet by van der Aa Baarn, April 1976: over 50 leaves with spots, merely caused by a leaf-miner, sometimes bearing a fungus; I found: Phyllosticta subeffusa (Ellis & Everh.) Tehon & Stout, Pestalotia spec., and Dothiorella smilacina (Peck) Petrak & Sydow. The last mentioned species fits the description; this was already concluded by Petrak & Sydow 1927, on the base of the description only. Another note inside packet stated: On the bsae of leaves is probably the Ascochyta, and on label and other note inside packet states: porbably young Ascochyta smilacis E. & M.
