A very large specimen 13 cm in diameter. Base was golden yellow top of peridium dark reddish brown with some black. Spores 10-13.5 um with short spines and no evidence of reticulations. . After seeing the NAMA Mycophile Vol 48:1, the specimen was reexamined for a microscopic view of the capillitium. The spiny outgrowths comfirmed the genus Mycenastrum. The black coloration was due to growth in an old fire pit.
