big shelf fungus on dead standing bell tree (Halesia carolina) ST: none CAP: hoof-like, creamy white, bumpy, rel flat on top, semicirc outline, rounded marg, faintly tomentose, faintly zoned FLESH: thick, tough, whitish PORE: maze-like, whitish, ~2 per mm SPORE: print whitish to faintly yellowish This species is just described as "similar [to D. confragrosa with a whiter cap" in Demystified. I wouldn't stake the house on it!
