Piloderma bicolor is a common mycorrhizal fungus in the west and the east, commonly found on conifers in the Pinaceae. It forms a crustlike fruiting body underneath logs, but more often you can see the yellow cordons (rhizomorphs) ramifying throught the soil under the logs and even into the logs themselves.
