Verbatim Date: 2008-11-15
Locality:
United States, California, Larkspur
37.9371 -122.536
Occurrence Remarks:
These were growing near planted birch next to the Leccinum scabrum posted earlier. The caps are small, 2.0cm and less. While the cap base color does seem to fade to a dull cinnamon, the fresh specimens appear to have a violet tint to them. Pictures found on the web seem to confirm this. Spores were checked on 10-6-10. They were ~ 7.3-8.2 X 4.3-5.6 microns and moderately rough.
