This is typical Scleroderma areolatum, with a papery-thin peridium that sometimes bruises purplish-black, and often becomes separated from the columella/stipe in maturity. Possible tooth-marks on the exposed gleba suggest this could have been predated upon by one of many squirrels in the area. Total width of sporocarp about 1 inch, and about the same height; powdery interior producing masses of spores which often stain the skin and clothing.
