This mushroom was identified to Psilocybe by spore print color, growth directly from equine dung, presence of a pellicle which is partially removable when young. it was distinguished from P. coprophila/subcoprophila, P. merdicola and P. moelleri by it's spore size [arond 10-14µm in length if my memory serves] and shape [hexagonal to subhexagonal in frontal view]. interesting observations: mushrooms seemed only to fruit from areas which had been flooded by rain and drainage, often growing to maturity under 1 or more inches of water. two specimens latently bruised blue. i have several dried specimens preserved in my collection.
