Two specimens 3 ft apart, growing out of hardwood forest floor. Cap is 15cm dia. on older specimen, 10cm on the younger. Thin pore surface firmly attached and running down the stem. White spore print. Lower part of stem has a black root-like structure. Flesh is white and soft with no discoloration when cut. Stem is tougher. Edible - tastes like, and has the consistency of a puffball, but the upper stem is more chewy.
