Two basidocarps growing next to each other under pitch pines in sandy soil. Could be X. affine, though the pileipellis is too light in color and ammonia produced a negative reaction with cap cuticle (as a matter of fact, the was no reaction with KOH / ammonia on cap or context). According to B-R-B, X. stramineum is known from coastal plains of NC south to FL, west to TX.
