Original observation #96257 (Mushroom Observer)
This time I have some target species in the genus Ramalina. These are R. lacera and R. canariensis. According to the reference given, the first one is characterized by: (1) Solid thallus with one to many ragged, flattened, (2) reticulate and +/- solid lobes, the cortex often peeling; (3) Soralia develop on surface and edges of lobes. The second species is considered similar to the first one, and its features can be described as follows: (1) having hollow, +/- flattened, grey-green thallus, (2) slightly branched with wrinkled lobes to 1cm wide; (3) Lobe ends split revealing farinose soredia. None of this species usually present apothecia and like most of he species in the genus the chemical reactions to C, K or KC are negative. To observe them I chose some locations where I remember to found some in the past. In these first set of observations I only present specimens which I think that can belong to first one of the two species cited above and later I will present some others concerning the second species.
