This was found in the northern portion of the Turkey Creek Unit. I believe pines were dominant in this particular area but hardwoods are usually present. There were a couple of other similar specimens nearby but were older and not in good condition. Cap was 12.3 cm across and stem 15 X ~ 2.4 cm. Spores were white and amyloid. Spores were ~ 7.5-9.1(9.8) X 5.2-6.1(6.8) microns. Q(ave.) = 1.49. Did not detect a strong odor. There did seem to be friable remnants of an annulus but did not see any on the cap margin. They were mature so I'm just tentatively putting them in section Validae. Did not save.
