Despite the modest looks, the "albino" Xanthoconium is always a welcome addition to my Pine Barrens collections. I don't see it very often, but just like some other "southern" bolete species that are known to grow here in south Jersey, such as Austroboletus flaviporus, Boletus oliveisporus and Tylopilus griseocarneus, it could be locally plentiful in the NJ coastal plain. With excepion of X. montaltoense and X. affine var. reticulatum, the genus Xanthoconium is fully represented in the Garden State.
