Found 3 of these growing near the base of conifers @ ~ 6000ft. The largest was 16 cm wide, 10 cm deep and 6.5 cm high. The pore area were relatively small(barely noticeable on one specimen) and confined to a portion of the edges. The undersides, which all were in contact with the ground, were covered with adhering fir needles. The pores were creamy, ~ 3-4/mm, and slowly turned slightly brownish with handling. The flesh was creamy and the tube layer on the largest was only 1 cm thick. They were very tough and woody and difficult to cut. The cap and flesh did turn a reddish to reddish brown color with KOH. I couldn't find any spores They have some of the characteristics of Fomitopsis pinicola but also different in other ways. So far haven't found a Fomitopsis species that fits?
