Mixed hardwoods, chestnut oak dominant. The thick slime coating is evident tip to toe. This didn't prevent the open cap shown from yielding a good Cort-colored spore print. No distinctive odor. Context in cap is pale yellow, non-staining. Context in upper 3/4 of stipe is lavender. The lowest section of the stipe, the buried part, is pale yellow inside and out. Elsewhere on Mushroom Observer, Cortinarius collinitus appears macroscopically to be the same species as this.
