Cap 9cm, soft velvety brown, many other caps nearby damaged by slugs that removed most or all of pileipellis leaving pure yellow context exposed.Margin pale yellow, pores fine also pale yellow staining rapidly blue when bruised quickly turning blue-black and fading to pale brown. Withing a few hours all damaged surfaces returned to a darkened honey yellow. Pore layer to 4mm, context to 9mm. Pores not depressed at stipe, smooth continuous right angle transition, to very minimally decurrent.Stipe 12cm high, 2cm wide at top and base, also pale yellow, rapidly bruising to blue when touched with very pale reddish tones on bottom 2/3's of stipe.Base pointed in leaf duff on ground Near massive Red oak, smaller hickory, yellow birch, cherry and alder.Smell of sweet curry or beef broth turning mushroomy.
