A club member, Chandler Wiegand brought this in for ID tonight. He had mentioned it and created an observation for it last year. http://mushroomobserver.org/144545?q=1TFmKIt has a bright yellow, powdery cap which rubbed off on the paper towel it was brought in with. The context is yellow, mildly bluing, the pores dark red-brown and in contrast to the description on BRB, very thin. As in the description, the stalk tapers. Odor is non distinctive, but not completely free of the curry aroma associated with B. subvelutipes. The abundant mycelium in the ground is bright yellow. Referred to in BRB as Boletus hemichrysus. Neither Boletus hemichrysus or Buchwaldoboletus sphaerocephalus is in GenBank.
