Cap is light brown, sometimes grayish and light blueish tint. Young surface is not smooth, old one is cracky or with scale-like projections. Flesh is 2-4cm thick, white to brownish. Spines 2-6mm long brownish-white becoming darker. Stalk: 3-7cm long, 1.5-3cm thick, white, becoming brownish. Stalk is lighter than a cap and spines. When boiled it became dirty-purple. Fried afetr boiling has taste about smoked meat. Very common and typical last 25 years.
