Original observation #151373 (Mushroom Observer)
I already had a good idea what these might be when I first clapped my eyes on them. Nevertheless, I brought these home and went through the whole rigmarole with Kibby & Fatto. This one hit the bullseye when I assembled the code: EI/JKNPS. Boy, these tasted so hot they could easily rival L. piperatus. The spores were very white and ovoid, and my scope did reveal fine-line connectors forming a partial reticulum (the pic is blurry as usual at this magnification -- that's the camera's fault). Lugol's did a superb job bringing out the ornamentation details at optimal condenser settings. Who needs Melzer's you cannot even procure anymore for Russula identification? :)
