In duff and moss near edge of gravel trail. See second photo. This is the only mushroom I saw along the 0.2 mi trail. Under a bush which I believe is Vaccinium ovatum (California Huckleberry). (Leaves included in close-up photo.) Nearest trees were Pseudotsuga menziesii (Douglas-fir) and one spindly cedar-like thing I did not recognize but which may have been Incense Cedar. Although I did not notice pine nearby, second photo shows pine needles in the duff. This Location has Sugar pine, and one Jeffrey pine (which is probably at least 100 meters from where I collected this mushroom). This is a young specimen, veil still intact. Cap: glutinous; pinkish-brownish (close-up photo does not get color balance right, cap color shown accurately in the second photo), getting darker with age, appears to have bruised brown over time where handled or where in contact with wax paper bag; diameter 2.5 cm, height 1.0 cm Gills: not visible, still covered by veil Stem: height 4.0 cm; diameter 0.9 cm, widens slightly at top and at base; color: top 1.75 cm is white, then yellow
