Growing on the ground in fairly deep humus. Habitat mixed woods of Doug fir, Live oak and others, Caps up to 7.2 cm across. Stipes up to 5 cm long and hollow, some pinched and with white tomentum at base. Taste slightly bitter. Spore print orange-rusty and ~ 6.9-8.5 X 5.2-6.0 microns, ellipsoid and slightly rough. Cheilocystidia was sparse, capitate, ~ 40-48 X 4-6 microns. Haven't found a good match as yet. Don't have the Hesler monograph.
