On ponderosa pine stump. Yellow orange cap. Tough leathery whitish flesh. Tiny round cream colored pores. Unpleasant odor. KOH on flesh turns red brown. This specimen lacked varnish on the cap but there was varnish underneath the conk where it attached to the wood. Could the heavy rains of 3/1 and 3/2 removed the varnish if the specimens were submerged in or scoured by flood waters?
