Margin decurved, entire, but plane in older specimens. Pores very tiny, white, bruising brown and pinkish with age, then bruising orangish-brown; attached to stipe, becoming sunken about the apex. Stipe centrally attached, stipitate, and snaps like a piece of chalk, but leaves a jagged edge, white at apex, with brownish reticulation along most of its lenght, tapered to a clavate base. Base white with white rhizomorphs. Taste of the young specimens was bitter, but this was not discernible among the older specimens. Odor was sweet. Taste of young was bitter but not evident in older mushrooms. Terrestrial under Virginia Pine, and scattered. Pileipellis: FeSO4, Stains yellowish-green NH4Oh and KOH; Stains Reddish-orange Context: KOH yellowish FeSO4, and NH4OH stained somewhat, but I coud not give the stains any particular name.
