Collema latzelii is an infrequent species here and has its distribution in Europe, North of Africa and Japan. It is considered similar to C. fuscovirens differing mainly by the thinner thallus, the squamulose isidia with age and the existence of a pseudocortex in the thalline exciple. It is frequently fertile, the apotecia smaller in general than C. fuscovirens, and with similar ascospores (ovoid to subglobose, with dimensions 16-26 x 8-13 um).
