It's always fun to find these guys, and they were unusually abundant. In Zone 24 near mostly just Pinus strobus and P. resinosa with a few Betula papyrifera and Acer saccharum scattered around, I found approximately a dozen of these scattered over a few square meters. Photographed one young specimen intact and uprooted, and two aged ones, one of which had already been uprooted by someone or something else.
