Found growing at the base of Sequoiadendron giganteum trees; about 10 scattered in the duff, all young. The "tap root" (15 cm) was tapered, very tough and not difficult to pull up whole, soil clinging to it along it's length. I was not able to get a print, but the gills have stayed a pale beige through drying.
