This is one of the most common and widespread lichens here. It is (almost) always present and is frequent as a pioneer species together with Xanthoria and Ramalina, regardless of the habitat, growing either on bark or on rock. Is one of the few species that can resist to an habitat very exposed to the sea elements like PapĂ´a. When I started to observe lichens I was lucky because I could find several fertile specimens. Now I realise that fertile specimens are relatively rare in comparision with the abundance of this species. In the case of this observation, a group of fertile ones developed on the bark of a small tree, in a protected habitat known by the its old specimens of Quercus suber, that dominate the habitat (see attached photos). I intend to analyze it under the scope in a forthcoming opportunity.
