A fused pair fruiting in grass; tree associates Oak and Ash. Larger cap: 14 cm., dry, bald, smooth, gray-brown bruising darker when touched. Pores boletinoid/sublamellate. Tube length 3 mm.Pore width 1 mm, bluish-black when bruised. Stem: eccentric 3.3 cm. X 2.3 cm. at apex, tapering slightly to base. Distinctive reddish-brown zone on pore surface at base (not from bruising). Context spongy. Flesh whitish/pale yellow bluing on exposure, ochraceous with ammonia. Spore print pale olive brown. KOH on cap dark orange/reddish brown surrounded by purplish area.
