Original observation #222069 (Mushroom Observer)
This is the second time I've found this species in the past few weeks. It's a crust-fungi growing on the side of a stump in a shady, mixed conifer forest of mostly Douglas-fir and Western Redcedar. (The other time I found it, it was on the cut end of a large fallen log.) This measured about 12" long and 4" wide, and the first photo shows its extraordinary sculptured construction.
