These specimens have branched elaters, the one why to tell Trichia botrytis from Metatrichia floriformis. On the other hand the spores are about 12.5µm in diameter on average which is larger than T. botrytis spores that are said to be 9-11µm and M. floriformis at 10-12µm. Also the stems are translucent on many specimens which is a trait of M. floriformis not T. botrytis.
