Found growing in moss on the side of a newly made dirt road. The closest tree to the moss patch was an easter red ceder (Juniperus virginiana). The area is part of what is known as a cedar glade, so the top soil is very thin. Unfortunately I didn't collect as I didn't think it was anything special at the time, so I don't have any microscopy to go along with this observation
