Pileus 7-9 cm broad, plane to slightly uplifted at margin, dry, subtomentose to tomentose to matted subfibrillose, breaking up into areolate patches, lilac (13,14 D-E 4,3; grayish magenta). broadly short sulcate ridged at margin. Flesh white, unchanging, with farinaceous odor and taste. Lamellae adnexed to emarginate, crowded to close, whitish to yellowish white (4A2) with even margins, not staining. Stipe 4.5-6 cm long, 10-15 mm broad, equal, cylindrical, dry, lilac (as in pileus), white at base, heavily tomentose to fibrillose, rarely with some fine scales, with interior white, pithy, hollow in one. Spores globose to subglobose, amyloid, ornamented with short, conic spines or narrowly truncated warts. Clamp connections present. Pleurocystidia absent.
