Occurrence Remarks:
Not an ideal situation here: I dug these out of a pile of pine needles and yard clippings that a neighbor had put on the side of the road. In other words, I have know idea about the initial location from which these very large fruiting bodies were extirpated. They were piled up as trash. I'm guessing they came from the backyard. There were bits of red mulch lodged in the base of the larger one's stipe.
