An NJMA foray collection. The two basidiomes likely collected separately (and not by me) in deciduous woods of beech oak and other hardwoods, but the morphology suggests it's very likely to be the same species. Note the large elongate/radicating bulbs with widely spaced rings of recurving scales. I don't think the bulbs were collected in their entirety, as the tips appear to have been broken off or cut off. The overall shape is evocative of A. magniradix (RET has collected this taxon in MW in the past + it was collected at the NJMA foray there last year - see obs 210733), however, the shape of UV warts reported for that species is different. The odor of intact basidiomes was of pure chlorine (smelled under the cap). Both plants have been preserved for RET. The larger fb had an unexpanded cap of 8 cm wide (measured in the evening before dehydration) and a stipe of 16 cm long. The stipe was 2 cm wide in the apex and 1.5 cm wide in the narrowest section just above the bulb. The latter was 3.2 cm wide and 7 cm long.
