Occurrence Remarks: Brackets growing on fallen hardwood (Fagus grandifolia, American Beech) log on moist, east-facing slope above a reservoir. Series of photographs: 2015-09-28 to 2016-01-04 Growing individually and in clusters, laterally and on top of a vertical side branch). Individual, flexible brackets ca. 2-2.5 inches wide, hairy. Young caps brown with white margin; margin darkening to gold. Rings of concentric coloring. As they age, some brackets remain orange-brown while others become gray. Pores. Large, irregularly shaped, maze-like pores, that break down over time to ‘tooth=like structures’ No distinctive odor.
