Leccinum holopus (Rostk.) Watling, Boletaceae, Agaricales. (Local name: ÐодбеÑÑ'зовик ÑвеÑлÑй или ÐодбеÑÑ'зовик болоÑнÑй) Cap: 6-15cm convex up to broadly convex; surface is smooth with thin skin; brownish-white or light brown. Odour is fragrant. Flesh is white and the older the softer. Tubes: attached, colour from white up to light brown, sometimes pinkish-white; old tubes imbibe water as a sponge. Stalk: 6-16cm long with tiny projections as dark dots, colour white up to dull brownish-white or light brown; 1.5-3cm thick, enlarged down; old one is fibrous and stiff; sometimes has bluish colouring at the base (when old). Habitat: single or small group near birches mainly in wet places of pine-tree forest. Edibility: good (several methods of cooking). June - September.
