Growing in rich black soil and leaf litter in a seasonally flooded forest near beech, swamp white oak, hickories and sugar maple. 3 fruiting bodies growing scattered within a roughly 4 sqaure foot area. Cap slimy and faintly zonate. Stem scrobiculate. White unchanging latex staining gills slightly purplish-brown. Taste weakly acrid. Odor probably not distinct (did not write anything about this in my field notebook and the dried specimen doesn't smell distinctive).
