Growing scattered and partially buried in needle litter under Picea sp. (P. engelmannii or P. pungens) along the trail. Fruiting bodies stout. Older caps orange to yellow, some with whitish blooms. Some younger caps with a pinkish bloom. Gill folds bright orange. Stems lighter orange, some with a slightly greenish tint. Odor very strong and apricot-like. Taste pleasant and like other chanterelles.
