Lactarius helvus (Fr.) Fr. Cap: 4-8 cm wide when adult, broadly convex, sometimes shallow sunken when old, reddish-brown. Gills: attached up to descending stalk, close, narrow up to moderately broad, pinkish-white up to light-orange. Damage has white milky juice when young. Stalk: 6-10 cm long, pinkish-white when young with pink bruising, reddish-brown and hollow with age.
