A pair fruiting at the edge of what was previously a woodchip mulch bed. Last year a large conifer (that was the center of that bed) was cut down and the area was covered with grass seed and straw over the winter. Largest cap: 9 cm., remnants of partial veil hanging from the margin. Stipe: 7 cm. X 1.7 cm., enlarged base has white rhizomorphs, remnants of a ring clearly visible. KOH negative. Obtained a dark purplish-brown spore print.
