A handsome specimen in pristine shape collected by Jess Evans in mixed woods of hemlock, birch, maple and beech. There were 50 bolete species identified at NEMF, give or take a few, but this one IMO stole the show and took the cake. :-) I did not smell or taste this bolete, or douse it with chemicals. The flesh was white and blued in the cap above the tubes. I didn't wait for the bluing to morph to whatever final colors the flesh is supposed to acquire and threw the collection into the dryer.
