Growing in core wood exposed by damage on the trunk of a tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) Cap. Cal 2.5-3 inches diameter; white with fine hairs. Gills: Crowded; free; finely serrated margins; pinkish. Stipe. White, silky appearance; even along length; tapering towards apex; light brownish volva at base Strong odor reminiscent of raw potato. No distinctive taste. Spore print. Pink-brown after 1 hr; brown after overnight.
