A single fruiting body growing on the raised bank of a sandy road in mixed woods of scrub/white oak and pitch pine (mostly oak in this section) of a typical Pine Barrens habitat. Not a common species in these ecological settings. Cap oval-shaped, 5 x 4.5 cm wide; cuticle peels ~1/2 radius, cap margins short-striate-tuberculate; gills sub-distant, pale cream, forking only at the junction with stipe; stipe 4.7 cm long, equal, 1.5 cm wide and 1.3 cm wide at base; flesh white, solid in the cap and cottony-stuffed in the stipe; taste mild; odor not distinct. Didn't collect a spore print, but given the color of the gills it's expected to be at least cream. Keyed out very well to CILNQT in Kibby & Fatto northeastern NA russula guide.
