Lignicolous on conifer wood Smooth dry and flat cap surface, whitish mycelial fluff at base When I first saw this, I assumed it would be some polypore or spine fungus because of the growth and shape, but it had large orange-tinted gills. The appearance reminds me of hygrophoropsis aurantiaca a bit, but with almost no stipe. It seems unlikely to me, but I have not found anything better yet, so using that as a placeholder. The cap seems to be fully developed for any of the local lentinellus, tapinellus, etc, but I don't know. I hope it is distinctive enough that someone can put a name to it. I didn't take a specimen.
