Cap: 12 cm, depressed, margin seriously upturned, even; surface glabrous, grayish with some pinkish tones. Pores: beige, free, tubes 6 mm deep. Flesh: 2.5 cm thick, white. Stalk: nearly equal, smooth (no reticulation); slightly darker than cap with lighter section near apex. Habitat: singular under oaks (woods are mixed deciduous/conifer). Spore Print: pinkish/mauve. Spores: 6-11.4 x 3-4 µm, fusoid, slightly yellow to hyaline. Taste: bitter.
