Very viscid and sticky, but hygrophanous. Initially scarlett red and vibrant orange, becoming pale upon drying. Also, turning white upon maturing. Smooth and glabrous, both the cap and stem. Cap is faintly striate, especially when wet. Initially concave, but flattening as the specimen ages. Stipe is same color as cap. Growing scattered in groups underneath juniper trees and fallen conifer needles (mostly juniper) in wet, mossy ground. Spore deposit white.
