Growing singly from soil in mixed white pine, oak, red maple forest. Cap 6 cm, smooth, light grayish tan. Flesh white, stains slightly pink when cut. Pores and tubes dingy white. Tubes 6 mm deep. Pores stain light brown. Stem 2.5 cm at apex, tapers to base, curves a bit at the base. Pale yellow with darker yellow reticulation along its length bruising brownish where handled. Flesh dingy white, yellow at the base, nonstaining but brown with insect holes.
